Britain's favourite 30-somethings are reunited for the fifth and final series of Cold Feet. The new series opens with the aftermath of series four's tear-jerking climax in Australia. Rachel gave birth to a healthy baby boy after months of turmoil for her and Adam, Pete and Jo tied the knot after convincing everyone—including themselves—that they were meant for each other and David was left reeling after Karen was forced to confess her affair. We pick up six months later on their return from Sydney. Adam feels neglected by Rachel who has become an obsessive, over-protective mother to new baby Matthew (who gets an education from Adam on The Undertones). Pete's vacuum-loving mum Audrey (Doreen Keogh) has been thrown out of her sheltered accommodation, so she moves in with the newly weds and then goes off with Jo to buy some cannabis to ease her arthritis. David and Karen's plan for an amicable divorce runs into problems when Mark (Sean Pertwee) gets back with Karen and advises her to get her own lawyer. Meanwhile, Ramona falls for life guard Lee.

Pete and Jo are required meet the suspicious immigration authorities in order to prove their marriage is legitimate so they have to find out quickly all there is to know about each other. Meanwhile, Adam is horrified to discover he is being made redundant but Rachel has a solution. David and Karen's divorce gets increasingly nasty (but David gets to bed his lawyer Robyn Duff) and Ramona gets her man—lifeguard Lee.

Adam and Rachel discover their house is up for auction and they can't afford to buy it. Then Adam gets an unwelcome visit from his father Bill (Ian McElhinney). Jo spends a weekend away working and ends up in bed with Ramona's Lee; and Karen is shocked when she discovers David's relationship with Robyn (Lucy Robinson). On her way to the house auction, Rachel is involved in an accident and her friends gather at the hospital.

Adam is putting on a brave face after Rachel's death and he decides to dispose of her ashes with the rest of the gang in Portmeirion. A heavily pregnant Jenny arrives from New York for the funeral, and later reveals that she's single again. Ramona and Pete both discover that Jo slept with Lee, and David has to decide whether he can be reconciled with Karen or should stick with Robyn.
