Linda is obsessed with hypnotism. After successfully practicing on Russell the rooster, she hypnotizes Pete. As a result, whenever anyone says "now", he acts like a chicken for 10 seconds. Unfortunately, Linda hasn't quite figured out how to undo the hypnosis so Pete gets himself into some serious trouble at school.

The stink is so bad that no amount of showers will wash off the putrid smell. But even stranger, Pete becomes a human junk magnet as all kinds of old junk begin to attach to him until he unravels the mystery.

Meanwhile, after breaking up, Dad and Fay are becoming close again.

Nell gives Bronson an opal which he is supposed to sell for cash necessary for Nell's election campaign. Instead, Gribble and his mates suck Bronson into buying a goat which quickly proceeds to eat Nell's opal. The only way Bronson can find the opal is to examine each and every one of the goat's droppings. The townsfolk are disgusted until they discover what Bronson hopes to find and suddenly there is a mad scramble for the little black balls.
