Skippy, created by actor John McCallum and film director Lee Robinson, was produced for the Nine Network from 1966 to 1968. It told the adventures of a young boy and his intelligent pet kangaroo in Waratah National Park, outside Sydney. By the end of 1969, Skippy was reportedly screened in 80 countries — more than any other TV show in the world. It led to books, toys and a feature film called The Intruders (1969).
