When we last saw Josh, his girlfriend had dumped him, he'd gained and lost a boyfriend, come out to his parents, lost his eccentric great aunt, and moved back in to live with his bipolar mother after her suicide attempt. In season two, Josh tries to get through the day without upsetting anyone. There's a new dog, a new rabbit and a new baby. There's no big twist. It isn't Lost.

Josh attempts babysitting his new sister and charming his new housemate. As his house fills with semi-clothed twenty-somethings and drunk, wary parents, Mum arrives with a sobering surprise.

Mum is admitted into a private psychiatric hospital and struggles to accept her fate. At Patrick's backyard party, Tom meets a cute girl, Jenny, Josh meets an odd boy, Arnold, and a beer pong game gets really weird. When Mum is spooked by her new roommate, Josh has to foil a breakout attempt and head back to the hospital, where he meets Mum's fellow patients, Hannah and Ginger, and feels strangely at home.
