Out of the Blue: articlesRed-hot Toni comes out of the blueTONI PEAREN has declared she is no longer the girl next door after taking on a sexy role in the new Aussie soap Out Of The Blue. "It has been a reinvention for me," said Pearen of her guest appearance on the series, which is being made for the BBC. "Obviously, I'm very used to playing the girl next door. I often get cast in those roles ... for my entire career, always sweet and innocent and accessible," she said. "This is my first role out of Funniest Home Videos, which was definitely girl next door, and she's a lot more complex and cunning and interesting." The BBC funded the new soapie after losing Neighbours to a rival station, Channel 5. Out Of The Blue has been filmed in Dee Why and Manly and is due on British television in the next few months. In her racy scenes as a guest star, Pearen kisses at least one of her male co-stars in the surf at Dee Why Beach. "Here I am, newly married, four months' married, but it's all part of the job," she said, laughing. Pearen is married to restaurateur Will Osmond.
