ABC TV and Screentime woo top producer for new drama series

ABC TV and Screentime announced that they have secured Ric Pellizzeri to produce their new 22-hour medical drama series.

Pellizzeri has for several years, been both Supervising Producer and Executive Producer of Blue Heelers, one of the highest rating and most successful Australian drama series of all time, both in Australia and internationally.

The Head of ABC TV Drama, Robyn Kershaw said, "Ric brings a fabulous level of experience and creative strength to the ABC and we welcome him back to work on our new series which is optimistic, intelligent and sophisticated drama."

"I am absolutely delighted that Ric has agreed to join Screentime to helm the team of the new show. He is without doubt one of this country's finest producers of television drama and we are looking forward to the contribution he will make to the success of the program," said Des Monaghan, Executive Director for Screentime.

Ric Pellizzeri said, "My drama career started at the ABC 17 years ago, so it is with great pleasure that I am returning to my old training ground. I am excited by the challenge and I look forward to working with both Screentime and the ABC in continuing to maintain a tradition of outstanding Australian drama."

Details of the new series remain under wraps, however the program is currently in pre-production in Melbourne.
