Janus: episode guide: series 2Demands With Menaces
Episode 2.08
March 16, 1995 Written by Graham Hartley Directed by Mandy Smith
Cast:
Rhonda Hennessey's de facto husband, Darren Mack, attempts to run an extortion racket inside prison, but his first victim does not frighten easily and turns Darren in. Darren Mack finds himself back in court for a committal hearing in what is a seemingly clear-cut case against him, anchored by a compelling, well-spoken witness. The situation is exacerbated when Michael Kidd sees the trial as an opportunity to further discredit Peter Faithful and his team, suggesting Faithful made promises to the witness in exchange for his statement against Darren. Meanwhile, Hennessey matriach Shirl is not pleased about the whole affair — Kidd is costing her thousands to defend Darren on a crime worth a few hundred dollars. Her mother's lack of support does not sit well with Rhonda. Faithful gets away with an error in his notes, Kidd's lone witness is discredited, and Darren is committeed to stand trial. |
