Young Lions: articles

Alex goes Wild about Lions

ACTOR Alex Dimitriades will revive his boyish cop persona for a Nine Network drama to premiere next year.

Dimitriades, known for his turn as hard-edged cop Charlie Coustos in the ABC's Wildside, will again don the badge for drama series Young Lions, Nine's replacement for Water Rats.

The actor will team up with SeaChange's Tom Long, Flat Chat's Alexandra Davies, television veteran Penny Cook and newcomers Anna Lise Phillips and Katherine Slattery.

The series will start filming in Sydney during mid-2002.

Set in an inner-city police station, Young Lions will centre on the lives of four detectives, two young public prosecution lawyers and a forensic pathologist. Southern Star Entertainment chief executive Errol Sullivan said the series' young, high-profile cast would break the cop-drama mould.

"Young Lions has a vibrant young cast of detectives coming of age through a baptism of fire on the streets of a big city," Sullivan said.
