There's a breakthrough in the case when Robin and Miranda visit the home of Brett, who reveals China Girl's identity as missing sex worker Cinnamon, who worked at Silk 41 — the brothel where Mary's boyfriend Puss lives.

On the evening of Mary's school Father & Daughter dance, Pyke is upstaged by the arrival of Puss, who has convinced Mary that he should be at her side at the dance — he is her "old man". His scandalous behaviour turns violent during a day at the beach, revealing to Robin just how dangerous he can be.

On the morning of Mary's 18th birthday, Puss's true plans for Mary are terrifyingly revealed. And Robin is the only person she feels she can turn to.
