US commissions Thank God You're Here

The US has become the latest in a long line of countries to commission episodes of the hit Australian television comedy show Thank God You're Here.

NBC Network in the US has commissioned six episodes of the hit improvisational show which is shown in over 10 countries worldwide including Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Israel and The Netherlands.

Later this year, Thank God You're Here will air its third series in Australia.

It averages audience figures of 1.7 million each week.

advertisement Developed by Melbourne-based company Working Dog Productions, the show challenges celebrity guests to enter a door and bluff their way through a comedy sketch they know nothing about.

The guests are then judged on whose improvised gags get the biggest laughs.

Jennifer Coolidge from American Pie, Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle and Wayne Knight from Seinfeld starred in the pilot episode.

Network Ten's chief programming officer David Mott congratulated the Working Dog team on bringing the program to "the world's biggest television market".
