Sea Patrol: articles

One final voyage for Lisa McCune

LOGIES favourite Lisa McCune will turn her hand to developing drama behind the scenes and moving away from acting now her commitment with Sea Patrol is over.

McCune is working with producer Jonathan Shiff on a new family-based adult drama. The show will mark a change in direction in her long TV career.

With five years on Sea Patrol and six years in the '90s on Blue Heelers, McCune is well placed to make the change from actor to serious drama producer.

Shiff is the person behind such hits as Ocean Girl and Horace and Tina.

McCune said Australia had so much talent behind the camera and she was happy to have a change of pace.

"I get so excited by that," she said. "I'm constantly surprised by the talent we have and it's just great to be part of that."

The cast of Sea Patrol finished filming its fifth and final series at Mission Beach in February. The area was badly affected by Cyclone Yasi and the cast went back last week to raise awareness for cyclone relief.

Some of the cast will join McCune at tonight's Logies.

McCune has a long Logies history, winning four consecutive Gold awards from 1997 to 2000.
