Pugwall introduces his family and friends, Bazza, Orfo and Stringbean. Today is his thirteenth birthday and Pugwall's dreams are realised when he is given a guitar — but no amplifier.

Pugwall is found to be uninjured and gets to know Jenny, who is in hospital after falling from a ladder. Orfo needs a drum kit so he and Pugwall answer a newspaper advertisement. Pugwall and the gang find themselves in trouble at school.

Pugwall goes to church to listen to Jenny sing. The boys discover the drums they hoped to buy are stolen. By luck the "band" manages to buy a legitemate drum kit but Pugwall still has no amplifier. The boys choose a name for the band, The Orange Organics, and find a lead singer.

Of Apples and Bulls

In an effort to help the band raise money for more equipment, Pugwall's mother organises an opportunity for the group to pick apples on Uncle Rodger's farm. Pugwall and Jenny have a nasty encounter with a bull that chases them into a dam.

Blast Off

The kids enjoy the day at Uncle Roger's farm before heading back home. Pugwall is finally able to buy a new amp. Jenny arrives late for practice with big news — she has landed the band their first gig playing for her cousin's 21st birthday party. However, their music is not appreciated by the older generation who take matters into their on hands.

A noise complaint from a neighbour halts the band's rehearsals and, at least in Pugwal's dreams, lands the kids in court. Daniella and her friends scheme to stop the Orange Organics from playing at their school social. When one of Pugwall's dogs dies, he takes the other one to school leading to more troubles. Pugwall reconnects with Old Gus whom he met while in hospital. The class goes on a school excursion to an animal sanctuary where the gang fight with their arch antagonists Wozza and Con.

On the way home from the animal sanctuary the school bus is forced off the road and hangs dangerously over a drop. Pugwall and the gang save the day by keeping everyone calm. The band plays at the school dance where they are treated like heroes, derailing Daniella's efforts to sabotage the show.

The Race

In a cross country race Pugwall saves the life of a teacher but in so doing he allows his arch rival Con to win. Once again Pugwall has come out the hero but his father doesn't believe his story and Con and Wazza still demand to collect on their race bet. Pugwall is nervous about meeting Jenny's parents for the first time.

The Local Show

Pugwall and his friends go to the show but are forced to take Marmaloid with them. Pugwall bribes her to disappear so the gang can spend the rest of the day by themselves. They try to see the dance of the seven veils, do a bit of busking, get involved in a fight, and rescue a horse. Marmaloid is forgotten till they arrive home.

The Holliday

Supes wins a week's holiday for the family only to find it is the use of a rather large caravan. Without any experience, Herohead finds such an adventure unmanagable. The holiday turns out to be a disaster.

The School Camp

At the annual school camp the group encounters the headmaster's nephew as he tries to sing with the band. Pugwall must walk for help when Supes' car breaks down on the way home. Marmaloid locks herself in her bedroom.

The Talent Quest
