Harmony tries one last time to dissuade Flame from attacking the Ants, fearing his attack will be what unites the Ants and the Barbs. Cass finds evidence that it was actually the Warps who attacked the Ants' camp, not the Barbs as they were tricked to believe. However, Faygar dismisses the evidence along with Cass' warning that another attack is looming, content that the Ancestor, Bray, will watch over their tribe. After once again finding Gwyn treating her servant, Magdar, as an equal, Harmony decrees Gwyn will be returned to the Discards. Desperate to remain a Priv, Gwyn turns over Magdar as a thief. Jag doesn't want Dan joining the Barbs and calls for a "proof of courage" to determine if he is worthy. With Sky stepping forward as Dan's champion, he and Jag square off in the forest but their contest is interupted by the arrival of Flame's raiding party. The pair work together to fight off the Warps with Sky defeating an overconfident Flame sending the Warps into retreat.©tzuk

Sky awakens in a cave inside the Forbidden Zone where he finds several artifacts and a cave painting depicting Zoot. Flame, still fuming from his defeat at the hands of Sky (and hiding his wounds), is refusing all visitors, including Harmony. After consulting with the Ancestor, Faygar decides it is time to bring the Ants and the Barbs together. Sky returns to the Barbs in time to witness the ceremony welcoming Dan into the tribe. Travelling with Omar, Faygar goes to the Barbs' camp to meet with Zora and after much discussion the two leaders agree to unite to fend off the Warps. Seeing former tribemate Dan with the Barbs, Omar accuses him of being a traitor to the Ants. Faygar is more gracious, believing Dan's acceptance into the Barbs' tribe to be Bray's will. Sky rejects Zora's offer to join the tribe as well. Harmony advises Flame to protect his image as a strong leader by placing the blame on the Warps' failed raid on Shadow. Faygar and Zora unite the Ants and Barbs for their mutual protection.©tzuk

Dan is out hunting with Erin when out of the forest emerges Gwyn, Dan's long-lost sister! Impressed by Kwarli's time-measuring devises, Sky asks him to help build defences to protect the camps against the Warps. Dan introduces his sister to the tribe but Jag is suspicious of her. Flame is eager to hear back from Gwyn, desperate to know more about Sky. Harmony asks Shadow what really happened in Flame's fight with Sky, hoping for an explanation for Flame's behaviour. Not knowing the truth himself, Shadow questions what Flame has been telling him. Gwyn sneaks off to report back to Shadow. Leanne and Sal set a trap to catch their egg thief (Jag). Gwyn meets with Shadow to make her first report about the Ants and Barbs. Sky takes Faygar to the cave hoping she can help him interpret the drawings. Faygar says the drawings depict the children of Zoot and Bray and that the Legend of the Ancestors tells that the children, or their descendants, must never come together lest a great darkness come upon the world. Leanne and Sal help Cass with her baking but get distracted while Cass is gone ruining the bread. They try to hide their mistake but Cass uncovers the truth. Flame's paranoia sees him isolate himself from the other Privs who he thinks are whispering about him. Shadow reports Gwyn's information back to Flame but Flame isn't happy with the lack of detail on the stranger. Flame asks Shadow to keep a close eye on Harmony. Jag entrusts Erin with looking after one of the tribe's firestems. Jag gives Gwyn a carving as a "welcome to the tribe" gift. A violent thunderstorm destroys the camp's defenses and scatters the animals. In the middle of the storm Faygar heads off to the Shrine. Flame refuses Gwyn's request to pull her out of her spying job and asks her for help to capture Sky — a first step before rounding up all the Ants and Barbs. Gwyn asks for Dan to be protected but Flame pays her little heed. Sky tells Zora he thinks he's a descendant of Zoot. Zora doesn't think there's any truth to the Ants' superstitions but doesn't think Sky's a bad person. Sky is determined to learn the truth. As Gwyn is welcomed into the Barbs, Sky departs. Flame wants to give Gwyn a loyalty test. Gwyn downplays how close she is with Dan but her concern upon hearing Harmony's lie that Dan has been captured quickly results in a Flame discarding her. Kwarli taking parts from the Shrine to build his "metal horse" leads to a big fight with Omar who runs off to the Priv camp hoping to rescue Faygar. Harmony is angered to see Faygar has the Discards worshipping the Ancestor and delights in dumping Gwyn back among the Discards. Harmony reveals Gwyn was a spy and that Ancestor Bray did nothing to help them. Harmony gives Faygar an ultimatum: she cuts out the "mumbo-jumbo" or Sky goes without food. Gwyn is shunned by the Discards but Omar gives her a chance to escape when he arrives. Omar sneaks into the Discard camp but is unable to rescue Faygar who is recaptured. Shunning the chance to escape, Gwyn returns to Harmony who puts her right back in with the Discards. Pursued by Warp guards, an injured Omar is driven to safety on Kwarli's bicycle. Flame dismisses the Ants' "superstitions" but Faygar is adamant that Flame not allow Sky near her again, warning of dire consequences that could lead to the end of the everything. Back at the Ants' camp, Zora orders an all-out effort to improve the camp's defences — with no meals until the work is done. Gywn leads the Discard chorus against Sky but before things get ugly, the Warp guards step in to protect Sky. Faygar asks Flame to let Sky go. In return she offers for the Ants to live under the rule of the Privileged but Flame wants them to surrender. Omar agrees to help Kwarli go behind Zora's back and build new traps in the forest. Leanne is worried Erin has not returned after riding off into the forest on Kwarli's bicycle. Flame leads Shadow and the Warps out to attack the Ants. Erin looks on as the Warps take out a sentry and races back to warn the others. With the Warps outside the Ants camp, Harmony arrives with their "secret weapon" — Faygar. Faygar appeals to the Ants to surrender, revealing Sky has been involved with Zoot. If they don't, she warns Sky will bring a return of the Terrible Darkness. Zora struggles to quell the complaints when she tries to build her team but Kwarli settles things. The Ants are spooked by the sounds of the Machines patrolling, fearing they could stray from the Forbidden Zone. The Ants and Barbs square off against the Privs and Warps in a game of Pass Ball. It leads to another clash between the leaders with Zora getting annoyed by Faygar's absession with her prophesies and dismissing Faygar's warning of a coming darkness, believing Harmony to be the immediate threat. Back with the Discards, Sky and Dan spark a fight between Shadow and the Warp guards allowing them to escape. When the guards pursue the pair, Shadow escapes as well. Harmony is angered by the news of the escape and wants them found but Sky and Dan elude her guards. Making their way back to camp, the boys pass the Stranger who is hiding in the trees. ©tzuk

Sky and Dan arrive at the Ants' camp with the Stranger in tow. Harmony is distraught to find a spot on her face marring her "perfection". For a public appearance, Gwyn suggests she wear a veil and feign a cold. The Ants are perplexed by the Stranger who does not talk. Uncertain if he can be trusted, the Ants decide on a cautious approach. Faygar asks the Ancestor for guidance on how to handle the Stranger who has taken to making complex drawings with seeds on the floor of his cell. Flame tries to offload responsibility for his actions while leading the Privs onto Shadow and Harmony but Sky doesn't buy it. Flame then tries to indoctrinate Sal but she turns his teachings back on him. Sky and Zora are puzzled by the Strangers designs but Faygar believes they are the markings of Zoot. Kwarli uses his astronomical knowledge to decode the drawings, determining they are from the ancient times and are related to the patrols of the Machines. Gwyn is excited by Harmony accepting her idea to have a celebratory feast, but not when she sees it is a feast for one — Harmony. Sky and Zora leave camp to travel to the caves to seek more information about the drawings.©tzuk

Cass investigates when someone releases the Stranger from captivity. A messenger from the Birds tribe arrives to see Harmony. Intrigued by his status, Harmony meets with the envoy but bristles at his threat that his tribe will use force to get what they want. Sky and Zora study the drawings in the cave, linking them to both the Stranger's designs and Faygar's prophecies. Exploring further, the pair come across a mysterious stone monument legends say is worshipped by the Machines. Erin and Dan are unhappy to be stuck tending the garden and taking orders from Sal. Faygar tells Cass they have to prepare for the coming of the descendant of Zoot. Omar and Kwarli go after the Stranger who has fled into the forest. The pair are captured by Warp guards and brought before Harmony who demands to know about the Stranger. Unhappy with their answers, she throws them in the cells. At the Shrine, Cass accuses Faygar of releasing the Stranger. Faygar admits to it but claims it was the will of the Ancestor, done to protect the tribe in service of the prophecy. Sky and Zora stumble upon the Stranger fishing in a stream and Zora recaptures him. During dinner with her tribemates, Faygar admits she released the Stranger and Flame instigates another argument. Gwyn visits Dan and Kwarli in the cells and offers to help them.©tzuk

Dan tries psyching himself up to stand up to Flame but it is Sal who has the power to keep Flame in check. Omar and Kwarli search for a way to escape from the Privs' cells. Sky and Zora return to camp with the Stranger. Erin's ailments increase as he seeks to skip out on chores. When Harmony asks for Gwyn's reassurance that she is a nice person, Gwyn tells Harmony she is — when she wants to be. Cass is concerned about Omar and Kwarli who haven't returned and Zora offers to send out a search party if they're not back soon. While out picking berries, Erin and Leanne discover a "baby Machine" and decide to bring it back to camp. Faygar is seeking guidance from the Ancestor at the Shrine when Zora comes to tell her they can set the Stranger free if it will make her feel safer. Erin and Leanne return to camp in a panic with the "baby Machine" chasing after them. Sky disables the threat with a well-thrown rock and it is secured in a hut. From within their cell, Kwarli overhears Harmony and Gwyn discussing what to do about the Birds. Gwyn lets Omar and Kwarli go free so they can take a message from Harmony back to their tribe. During a raging, late-night thunderstorm, Erin and Leanne are scared the Machines will come for the "baby Machine". Outside, the Stranger looks to the sky and smiles as the thunder and lightning surge overhead and the baby Machine comes alive. Kwarli and Omar return from the Privs' stronghold and pass on Harmony's warning about the Birds. Back at the Priv compound, Harmony is surprised to learn the Birds have left early, traveling to the Barbs' old camp for a meeting of the tribes.©tzuk

Zora and Faygar gather the tribe to discuss their upcoming meeting with the Birds. The Stranger lashes out at Erin when he touches one of the rocks he is using to construct a monument. Inspired by Sal and Flame's discussion about what makes the plans grow, Kwarli conducts an experiment with the "baby Machine", discovering it gets its power from the sun. Sky sees the Stranger's pile of stones and recognizes it as a small version of the monument the Machines seem to worship in the Forbidden Zone. Harmony and Gwyn arrive at the Ants' camp in advance of the meeting of the tribe leaders to make plans. Sky and Dan travel into the Forbidden Zone to study the Machines' monument. Harmony, Faygar and Zora lead their tribes to the Barbs' old camp to meet with Sunni, the Birds' envoy, to discuss trade. Sunni is spooked by the sounds of the Machines patrolling the forest. Seeing an opening to bolster their position, Flame leaps to his feet to claim he can control the Machines to protect their people but Erin ruins things by saying Flame is just joking. At the monument, the Stranger watches from the trees as Dan and Sky observe a Machine arriving. On the back of the Machine, Sky and Dan see the same solar collector that the "baby Machine" had. When another Machine arrives and Sky is attacked, the Stranger saves Sky by destroying the Machine's power supply and the trio head home. The tribes' meeting breaks up when Erin reveals he has brought along the "baby Machine" causing the Birds to scatter.

Back in the Ants camp that evening, the tribes are enjoying a celebratory meal and sharing stories when Harmony announces she wants the tribes to spend more time together. Kwarli explains Sky and Dan't findings to the others — the Machines were programmed to go to the monument for power sourced from the sun. At this point, the Stranger speaks for the first time, revealing it is "only the prototypes". Harmony, Gwyn and Flame are returning to the Priv compound, with Flame once again leader after Harmony steps down. Flame is just promising to set the Discards free when the Birds arrive. Later, the Birds arrive at the Ants' camp menacingly announcing they will not to leave until they find what they are looking for. They search the camp until they find the Stranger who is revealed to be Sunni's brother. The tribes part on good terms with the promise of more adventures to come.©tzuk
