Nine announces third series

The Nine Network today announced it has commissioned a third series of the hit prime-time drama McLeod's Daughters.

Filming on the 26 new episodes will commence in September.

McLeod's Daughters is shot entirely on location at Kingsford, an historic 135acre (55 hectares) homestead one hour outside Adelaide.

Starring Lisa Chappell, Bridie Carter, Sonia Todd, Jessica Napier, Rachael Carpani, Aaron Jeffery and Myles Pollard, McLeod's Daughters has been a ratings success for Nine since its debut in August last year. It has regularly won its 7.30pm timeslot on Wednesday nights in 2002.

"Any network would kill to have a show like McLeod's Daughters, which has established itself so strongly and so quickly," Nine Network Director of Drama, Kris Noble, said.

Executive Producer, Posie Graeme-Evans, said: "I couldn't be more thrilled. This is a wonderful reward for the cast and crew of McLeod's Daughters, and a fantastic vote of confidence in the series.

"It's lovely to know we're coming back to continue the emotional journey of everyone on Drovers Run — this will be the season when we come into our own."

The third series of McLeod's Daughters has again been picked up by the international Hallmark Network, which has screened the first two series to critical acclaim in the UK, Europe and throughout Asia, including India, Malaysia and Singapore. The series is also a smash hit in New Zealand on TV2.

McLeod's Daughters will return to Nine on Wednesday, July 3 at 7.30pm, following a six-week break to accommodate a number of major sporting events.

Also in July, Sony Music is scheduled to release a soundtrack of the original music from McLeod's Daughters.
