Mcleod's Daughters: articles

McLeod's last man pulls plug

AARON Jeffery has spent more than six years playing Alex Ryan on McLeod's Daughters but has left the show because he was exhausted and unhappy with the show's direction.

The last original man or woman standing from the show's original cast will be on air until early next year but has officially left the production.

After taking a break he is now working in New Zealand but said from there it was time for him to leave the popular Australian farm drama.

"When you're doing a series day in and day out, it's a battle to stay creatively present," he said.

"I'm not happy with the way the show has evolved either - it had crept into soap territory, and that's not the sort of meat I like to chew on."

Why his character departs is a secret but Jeffery, 36, is already working on Outrageous Fortune, a politically incorrect New Zealand drama.
