Ros Marshall has to prove herself as a Junior Crown prosecutor when she gets her first case—acting for a pole dancer who's determined justice will be done… one way or another. Tempers flare when her sister Verity and ex-husband Dylan go head to head in a property dispute over a dog. Verity's patience is stretched to the limit by his courtroom antics. There's a clash of wills as both strive to outdo each other.

The Perfect Sister

Ros is finding it difficult to follow her older sister Varity's footsteps. Ros' fraud case seems straightforward enough but when love gets in the way, complications set in. She also has to cope with the work experience girl from hell. Verity's life is turned upside down when she discovers a lump in her breast, and the sisters' roles are reversed. For once, Verity needs all the help Ros can offer. As Verity tries to take stock of her life, her efforts in the courtroom take on an unusual perspective. Ex-husband Dylan tries to help her, but is not met with the response he expected. While Verity may be perfect, it seems Ros is, in fact, the perfect sister.

Verity, mystified by her opposing counsel's behaviour in a defamation case, finds herself a victim of the legal rumour mill. She is rankled when Dylan runs for bar council.

When a woman assaults a shoe salesman on the eve of her wedding she is surprised to find she has Verity's full sympathy. Her client's problems cause Verity to reflect on her own wedding day. Verity and Ros see Dylan's new girlfriend as the ultimate betrayal.

When Ros enlists Dylan's help, Verity and Dylan's feelings for each other are rekindled. Ros is forced to ask for her mother's help and Verity sacrifices her pride to help settle the legal wrangle. Dylan's patience is tested when Gav finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

It's Ros' first trial and with an unwilling witness it seems unwinable. Although seriously distracted by carnal desires, Verity finds a creative solution to a rental dispute. Dylan's curiosity is aroused when Prue alerts him to Verity's uncharacteristic behaviour - like accidentally wearing odd shoes to a mediation hearing. Dylan's sexual fantasies drive him to distraction. Ros and Verity find they have a friend in common which they're not at all happy about.

When a young man almost dies from a B & D session gone wrong, Ros prosecutes the bondage mistress in charge. She's mystified by her young client's apparent affection for the bondage mistress, until his strange secret is revealed. Ros and her police informant share a mutual attraction. Verity has her hands full when her client doesn't take the assault charges seriously. When he tries to mix business with pleasure, Scott is quick to come to Verity's rescue. Dylan panics that he might be called as a witness in Ros' case.

When Ros and Verity clash during an assault case, Verity is determined to beat her younger sister. Ros is equally determined to show Verity that she won't be taken for granted. Mikey's hopes soar when Ros decides she wants a 'proper' relationship. Ros and Verity have a domestic crisis. Dylan and Ros unite against Verity on both the domestic and work fronts. Dylan is forced to make painful sacrifices to sort out his tax problems. Esther is on hand to offer the best solution.

Backing Your Judgement

Episode 12
October 22, 2002

A dilemma for Ros as Dellabosca tells her to up the charges in a theft case while Mikey and the police informant want them reduced. With the police informant's baby due at any time, Don goes with the chaotic flow of the courtroom. Ros's flirtation with Don continues. When Judge Green inadvertently insults Dellabsoca's artistic efforts, Dellabosca sets out on a fateful path of revenge which is played out in the courtroom. Dylan is forced to mediate. The stoush between Dellabosca and Judge Green has a sobering effect on Verity's client. Judge Green's nitpicking drives Gav mad. Ros pays the price for complimenting Dellabosca's paintings.

Ros prosecutes a mental impairment case made all the more difficult when the defendant decides to self represent. Verity runs her first prosecution, with the formidable Prue opposing. When Verity learns Scott is Prue's instructing solicitor, she feels a sense of betrayal and cold shoulders him. Scott is devastated. Ros tells Dylan that Prue wants to jump his bones. He has to resort to desperate measures when Prue pays him a surprise visit. Ros changes her style of dress so Don will find her more attractive. Sensing Ros' interest in Don, Mikey seeks solace in a big breasted woman.

Much to Mikey's disappointment, Ros and Don continue their hot relationship. When Prue is charged with assaulting a solicitor, Esther volunteers to represent her but has to withdraw due to a conflict of interest. An unhappy Verity finds herself junioring for Dylan and opposing the unctuous Peter Telfer. Prue's romantic dalliance with Gav to make Dylan jealous backfires.

Ros' skills are put to the test when a would-be burglar accidentally snorts the cremated remains of a dog. Her steamy relationship with Don is under threat when she's tempted by an old flame from university. Mikey continues to angst because Ros doesn't return his feelings. Verity is convinced her client is innocent but Esther and Telfer are determined to prove otherwise. Verity learns that Dylan is back with Lindy. A surprise birthday is planned for Judge Kath. There's an unwelcome guest for Verity.

With Dylan and Gavan opposing and a nervous client, Verity and Scott have their work cut out for them. Gav laments the loss of Prue more than the loss of his marriage. After the unexpected demise of her relationship with Don, Mikey finally scores a date with Ros, but the night doesn't turn out to be as romantic as he'd hoped.
