Halifax fp: articles

Nine kills Halifax

AFTER 21 telemovies, Channel 9 has canned its Halifax fp series.

Rebecca Gibney had starred as forensic psychiatrist Jane Halifax since 1994, the last telemovie shown in November last year. Nine said it had dropped plans to give the character a weekly TV series. Nine's head of drama Kris Noble said Gibney had made Jane Halifax a household name but that after an extremely successful run, Nine felt it was time to "rest" the series.

It is the second Australian drama which Nine has canned in as many weeks.

Ten days ago, it dropped its production of weeknight soap opera The Coast.

It was planned to develop a new series featuring Gibney as the lead.
