Gibney ready for new venture

A DISAPPOINTED Rebecca Gibney is in talks about a new TV series after the surprise axing of her popular telemovie series Halifax f.p.

The industry was stunned last month when the Nine Network announced it would cease production of the series after 21 telemovies starring Gibney as forensic psychiatrist Jane Halifax.

Gibney said she was surprised and saddened by the end of the show, which began in 1994. The last telemovie in the series will be shown mid-year.

Gibney is now in talks with Halifax production company Simpson Le Mesurier about a new series for her.

But the popular actor is also pro-active, having formed a television and movie production company, R&R Productions, with husband Richard Bell.

"We've already got quite a few projects that we're looking forward to developing further this year," she said.
