Grass Roots: articles

Dry is Roots-bound

Young Adelaide actor Jodie Dry (Wildside, Children's Hospital) will play the ambitious Biddy Marchant in the second series of Grass Roots now in production in Sydney.

Dry replaces Sophie Heathcote, who has left acting to concentrate on her natural cosmetics business, Ki.

Heathcote's co-stars, Geoff Morrell, Sacha Horler, Rhys Muldoon, Rhondda Findleton, Chris Haywood, Zoe Carides and John Clayton all return, along with Kerry Walker, who moves to Arcadia Waters as Councillor Fran Smith, a "greenie councillor with attitude".

Matthew Newton won't return to his regular role as the council receptionist but the strong guest-cast line-up includes Rachael Blake (Lantana), Pia Miranda (Looking for Alibrandi), Aaron Pedersen (Water Rats), Mary Coustas and Terry Serio.

Grass Roots returns to the ABC next year.
