Overview

Realising that they have polluted the time stream with their experiments, the scientists from the year 3000 resolve to return Jenny and Silverthorn to their respective times and then destroy the capsule before it can do any more harm. Troubles in the year 2500, however, lead to Alana and her guardian, Tulista, returning to a devastated future. They must return to 2500 and change whatever it was that went wrong in order to cause The Great Disaster to reach Australia.

Jenny awakes in the year 3000 having recovered from the injuries she sustained during the battle with Silverthorn. Despite assurances that Silverthorn has lost his memory and is no longer a threat, Jenny has her doubts. When Silverthorn rescues a drowning child, he is granted release from the Sentinal that has been guarding him.

When it is discovered that the time travel experiments have gone wrong, Jenny is told that she and Silverthorn must return to their own times, as they have already changed history too much. So Jenny, Alana, Silverthorn and Lorien (the assistant to the inventor of the time capsule), begin a journey back through time. Their first stop is the violent wasteland that is the year 2500 at which time Silverthorn reveals his true colours and captures Alana and Lorien.

Having lured Alana and Lorien into a trap, Silverthorn tries to recapture the time capsule. However, with the help of local boy Nik and his booby traps, Jenny is able to defeat Silverthorn. Meanwhile, after Alana and Lorien manage to escape, they return Jenny to the 1990s where she is reunited with her family. When Alana and Lorien return to the year 3000, they emerge from the capsule to find only a barren wasteland.

Hoping to learn what has changed to cause the Great Disaster to persist into the year 3000, Lorien and Alana travel back to 10 minutes before they departed from the year 2500. Believing that Silverthorn is responsible for the wasteland they found in the year 3000, Lorien and Alana witness their original arrival and decide to follow Silverthorn to stop whatever it is that he does to destroy their future. However, they are arrested by Globecorp Police, who order that they be "modified" as punishment for being in a restricted area. Lorien is the first to be processed but Alana escapes and returns to Silverthorn's hideout where he is using Alana's wrist computer PJ to build a Time Gate. Alana tries to return to the time capsule, but it will not respond as Lorien has locked it and only her palm print can reopen it. Local boy Nik returns and Alana pleads with him to help her stop the Great Disaster which will happen in four days!

The Time Gate

Alana and Nik look on as Silverthorn finishes work on his Time Gate. Silverthorn is reunited with Eddie when he returns to 1990 with a plan to transport valuable water back to the year 2500. Eddie returns to the Kellys to retrieve the limosine from where it was left on the street outside the Deli. Petey is quick to notice the limo is gone and immediately suspects Silverthorn although his mother reassures him that Silverthorn is gone and not coming back. Determined, Petey sneaks into Silverthorn's estate and hides in the limo. With Petey still in the car, Silverthorn and Eddie drive to the warehouse where Silverthorn has his hideout in 2500, planning to set up on the same location in 1990. Petey rushes home to tell Jenny what he discovered but his mother, only seeing the toy robot he stole from Silverthorn's warehouse, refuses to believe his story about Silverthorn. Back in 2500, Alana and Nik disable the Time Gate but not before Silverthorn returns and the arrival of Globecorp Police.

Sucked Into the Future

Silverthorn emerges from the Time Gate and is taken back to Globecorp headquarters where he is commanded to hand over the Gate's secrets or be modified. Silverthorn earns his release by promising Draco, the head of Globecorp, that he will provide all the fresh water Draco wants in exchange for Globecorp staying out of his way. Back in 1990, Jenny and Petey break into the toy warehouse which has been purchased by Eddie for Silverthorn. Inside, they find a full swimming pool with a large pipe connected to it, ready to pump the water through the Time Gate to 2500. Silverthorn returns to the warehouse through the Time Gate and starts to pump water from the pool throught the pipe and into the Time Gate. Petey, who hid in the pool when Silverthorn returned, is sucked through the pipe into the year 2500. Jenny jumps into the pool after him, grabbing PJ, and emerges next to Petey inside a tanker. Jenny is able to escape while Silverthorn is showing the water to Globecorp but she cannot rescue Petey who is captured by Globecorp.

The dynamic trio of Jenny, Alana and Nik set off after Petey who has been brought before Draco. Petey tells Draco about Silverthorn and the Time Gate, causing Draco to rethink is deal with Silverthorn. Enroute to Globecorp to find Petey, Jenny, Alana and Nik follow Lorien, who is in a work party with other modified people. As they try to rescue Lorien from a waste disposal site, Jenny cuts her leg badly on a wire fence. Nik insists that she have her cut attended to, leaving Alana to fend for herself. Alana and the other modified workers are marched back to their filthy quarters where Alana tries to communicate with Lorien, to no avail. Nik takes Jenny to see his grandmother, Maeve, who heals Jenny's wound. Maeve is a scientist working in secret on a brain amplifier she believes will change the world. Jenny recognises it as an early model of the Transducer which were used to rebuild after the Great Disaster. Jenny agrees to help Maeve work on the Transducer if she will lend it to her to rescue Petey. Alana escapes from her quarters and uses PJ to locate Petey, who is having a blast in the apartment of Draco who questions Petey about the weapons in his time. Petey observes Draco revealing to Silverthorn that he wants to take over Globecorp.

Alana breaks into Draco's apartment, and Petey tells her about Draco's plan to take over Globecorp. Alana quickly realises that Draco's plan to use the Time Gate to obtain nuclear weapons to destroy the orbital "Peace Platforms" is the cause of the Great Disaster and he must be stopped. Silverthorn returns to 1990 in search of nuclear weapons and with the US Navy in town, Eddie knows just where they need to go. Back at Globecorp, Draco discovers Petey has been working with Alana and modifies Petey into a Globecorp spy, giving him a special watch so that he can communicate with Draco whenever he needs to. Alana, Lorien and Petey make their escape from Globecorp through the basement where Jenny is waiting with Maeve's Transducer. As they are about to leave, a guard suddenly appears and orders them to surrender.

Alana, Nik and Jenny overpower the guard and escape from Globecorp with Lorien. Stopping at Nik's grandmother's, Alana tries to use the Transducer prototype to help Lorien but it is not powerful enough. Forced to leave Lorien behind, they return to the time machine which allows a modified Petey to use his watch to contact Draco with the capsule's location. Continuing to Silverthorn's hideout, Alana, Nik and Jenny observe Silverthorn, Draco and a squad of Globecops leaving through the Time Gate for 1990 where they intend to steal nuclear warheads. Once in 1990, Silverthorn reveals his plan to Draco only to be doublecrossed. Jenny, Alan and Nik rush through the time gate and reluctantly set Silverthorn free in exchange for him telling them where Draco is getting the weapons. They follow Draco to the docks but Silverthorn's eratic driving attracts the attention of the police.

Stopped by the police, Alana uses her Transducer to create a distraction allowing Silverthorn and herself to escape in the van. Draco and his men arrive at the docks in Eddie's ice cream van and use a "modification projector" to modify all the sailors, guards and protesters mingling around, allowing them to steal the nuclear warheads without a struggle. Having gotten left behind by Alana and Silverthorn, Nik and Jenny return to the warehouse to wait for Draco to return.

Nik and Jenny are unable to put up much of a fight and Draco and his men are able to take the warheads through the Time Gate to 2500. Draco kidnaps Jenny and Nik leaps through the gate after her. Nik escapes from Draco's men, who are ordered to dismantle the time gate, and returns to his grandmother's to retrieve Lorien who alone can access the original Time Capsule. Nik eludes Vance and the Globecops, who Petey has alerted, just long enough to escape back to 1990 in the Time Capsule. He makes his way to the docks with a family of protestors but is too late and arrives to see Draco and Eddie already leaving with the weapons.

Nik returns to the warehouse and watches as his previous self pursues Jenny through the Time Gate. Alana and Silverthorn arrive and are surprised to see Nik, having just watched him go through the Time Gate, and are also reunited with Eddie. In 2500, Draco still has Petey under his contol and tries to force Jenny to teach him to use the Transducer but she refuses. Draco instructs Petey to jump out the window but Petey resists resulting in he and Jenny being sent for modification.

Back in 1990, Alana, Nik, Eddie and Silverthorn arrive at the rubbish dump as a truck pulls out with the time capsule on the back. They go to the Kelly Deli where Jenny's mum is distraught as Petey and Jenny have been missing for days. At Alana's insistance, Mr Rooney goes to the police depot to retrieve the impounded time capsule, and they take it to the tower that in 2500 becomes the Globecorp building. Mr Rooney, posing as a Hollywood filmmaker, convinces the building manager to let them bring the time capsule into the building. In 2500, Jenny tries to use PJ to interfere with the machine but Petey is put through the modification process.

Petey gives Jenny a wink to let her know he was not modified by the machine. Silverthorn's "film production" sets up in the 1990 version of the Globecorp building but must improvise a brief scene for the benefit of the building staff. Despite damage to the Time Capsule, Alana, Nik and Silverthorn travel back to the year 2500. They emerge near Draco's office but Petey, having already escaped with Jenny, is no where to be found and they are captured by Draco's men.

Using PJ to access the building's computer system, Jenny attempts to trick Draco into surrendering but Silverthorn reveals the ploy. Jenny is quickly apprehended and brought back to Draco's office where Silverthorn turns on Draco. Alana pleads with Draco to stop his attack on the Peace Platform but it is too late. When the ship destroys the Peace Platform over the North Pole, news is received that the Northern Hemisphere has been devastated — the Great Disaster has started. Draco tries to stop the second spaceship from launching but it is too late... unless they can stop it from colliding with the remaining Peace Platform, the entire world will be destroyed.

Unable to stop the second spaceship, Draco and Silverthorn strike a deal to escape into the past using the Time Gate. Alana is able to recover her Transducer but Draco and Silverthorn escape. In a last effort to stop the second ship, Alana tries to use her Transducer to send PJ into space after the ship but she does not have the power. Alana pleads with Jenny to escape into the past with Nik and the Transducers but Jenny suggests they can create a mind link to amplify their power and get PJ into space. PJ is able to interface with the navigation computer and diverts the ship away from the Peace Platform. Alana, Jenny and Nik go after Silverthorn and Draco but cannot stop them from escaping into the past. They expect to emerge in 1992 but Alana, Jenny and Petey follow them through just long enough and reveal that they are now five million years in the past. The kids pass back through the Time Gate stranding Silverthorn and Draco. With a global disaster avoided, the head of Globecorp, safe on their moon base, agree to put their resources behind the construction of Transducers to repair the damage already done. Lorien's modification is reversed and the kids say their goodbyes before Jenny and Petey are send home through the Time Gate. Lorien destroys the Time Gate and she and Alana get into the Time Capsule to return home. The capsule is damaged but has just enough power for one more trip. Lorien and Alana emerge uncertain when they are but quickly realise they have made it home.
