Southern promises arresting cop series

Australia's Southern Star International has already lined up its flagship cop show for Mipcom in October, a soon-to-air series produced by the Seven Network.

Described by the distributor as "no-frills, punchy and edgy," City Homicide (14x60') was created by John Hugginson and John Banas, and is told through the eyes of four young detectives and their superiors.

It stars Shane Bourne (Thank God You're Here), Nadine Garner (Blue Water High), Noni Hazelhurst (Little Fish), Daniel McPherson (The Bill), Aaron Pederson (The Secret Life of Us) and Damien Richardson (Torn).

"We are proud of our achievements with Australian drama at Seven and we are confident that City Homicide will continue that tradition," said Janeen Faithfull, commercial director of network programming and production at Seven Network.

Hugginson and Banas have previously worked together on Seven Network's All Saints, Nine Network's Water Rats and Murder Call. City Homicide will be telecast on Seven later in 2007.
