As Little Otter Family Camp resumes for the summer, owner and director Mackenzie "Mack" Granger is running the camp for the first time on her own. With her ex-husband pressuring her to buy his shares of the camp, Mack scrambles to keep the cash-strapped camp afloat. She even contemplates a buyout offer from Roger Shepard, the sexy but arrogant owner of Ridgefield, the upscale resort across the lake.

It's also the first year Mack's fifteen-year-old son Buzz is a counselor in training (CIT), and he vows to make it a legendary summer. Buzz makes fast friends with Kip, a fellow CIT who is hiding a secret. And Mack's trusty handyman Cole may be developing more than a professional interest in the newly-single camp owner.

Meanwhile, lead counselors Robbie Matthews and Sarah Brennen resume their annual summer romance. But their relationship is different this year as Sarah faces stress over the loss of her swimming scholarship and finds her thoughts wandering across the lake when a sexy older writer moves into Ridgefield.

Capture the Flag

Mack announces it's time for the annual Capture the Flag competition at Camp Little Otter and nobody is safe! Mack's ex-husband Steve arrives unexpectedly at camp looking for a place to crash after a fight with his girlfriend. Mack reluctantly agrees to let him stay and participate in the competition.

Sarah and Cole tackle the game with ferocity and are determined to beat the others. Kip chafes at Marina's flirtations with another camper but is surprised to find he has attracted the attention of fellow CIT and "mean girl," Chloe, who takes Kip prisoner during the competition.

Meanwhile, Robbie comes to his mother's aid when her gambling gets her into trouble once again.

The Mixer

The Camp Little Otter staff prepares for the annual mixer with Camp Ridgefield. Kip tries to impress Marina by learning how to swim, Cole gets a new hot tub for Boys Town, and Buzz hopes that his DJ duties will attract attention from the ladies.

Meanwhile, Mack considers installing a cell-phone tower at the resort; Kip helps Marina get back at her tormentors; and Sarah questions her future with Robbie and with competitive swimming while being pursued by Miguel, a mysterious and handsome young author.

Valentine's Day in July

The camp celebrates Valentine's Day in July, and the festivities become complicated when Roger wins the raffle for Mack's private tour of Little Otter. The two spend their time arguing and flirting and eventually give into their mutual attraction.

Kip sees his chance with Marina slipping away as fellow CIT Greg gives her a very public proclamation at the carnival. Sarah finds herself increasingly intrigued with Miguel Santos, an older writer who is staying at Ridgefield, across the lake.

Mack prepares the camp for the annual CIT Parents' Weekend. Her hands are full with Zoe's high-maintenance mother Bethany, and Buzz, who rebels against her punishment for the drinking incident on his birthday.

Marina's flamboyant mother Crystal arrives unexpectedly at camp and drops the bombshell that things with her boyfriend are over and they now have nowhere to live. Kip's dad Larry hopes to spend some quality father-son time together but his over protectiveness becomes a problem when Cole recruits Kip's help outside Little Otter.

Meanwhile, Roger inadvertently reveals Sarah's secret affair with Miguel and Kip has a health scare that ultimately reveals his battle with cancer to the group.

The Wedding

Mack announces that the new Mayor is performing same-sex marriages and is encouraging everyone to marry before the State repeals. Mack volunteers to host the wedding at Little Otter for Raffi and Todd, who hesitantly agrees after Grace's heartfelt plea.

The camp staff springs into action to prepare the camp for the best wedding ever. Roger insists he throw the bachelor party in an effort to attract more gay people to Ridgefield.

In the wake of her cheating scandal, Sarah finds herself being ostracized by Robbie's supporters. After his health scare, Kip feels like he has a new lease on life and decides to break free from Chloe and pursue Marina — the girl he really wants to be with. At the wedding party — with love in the air — Cole decides to finally make a move with Mack.

The CITs prepare for their overnight on Bear Mountain, the final rite of passage before becoming certified Little Otter Counselors. Buzz plans for a big night of survival, bonding and losing his virginity. Chloe keeps interrupting Kip and Marina's alone time and the two decide to come clean to her about their relationship. Robbie encounters two French backpackers who take him on an interesting journey. Back at Little Otter, Mack discovers that Cole is considering a job with Roger at Ridgefield Alaska.

Kip and Marina make the most of their waning time together, but the future of their relationship comes in jeopardy after Marina receives startling news about her mother. Cole and Roger make plans for Ridgefield Alaska, but their partnership is tested when Roger makes another play for Mack. Buzz faces off against his Ridgefield nemesis, Ryan. Sarah is determined to crush Ridgefield in the swimming event and when Robbie offers to join her team, their romance shows signs of revival.
