BordertownExecutive Producer: Penny ChapmanProducer: Steve Knapman Directors: Ken Cameron and Ian Gilmour Writers: John Alsop and Sue Smith Aired: 1995 (10 x 50 min miniseries) Bordertown is a dusty isolated spot—miles from the sea and at first sight, not much of a place to be in to start a new life. Modelled on the great many migrant reception centres and hostels which played an important role in the post-war development of Australia, the borders crossed here are as much personal as national. A converted army barracks, Bordertown provides only basic accommodation for it's newcomers. Yet out of the richness of their memories, hopes and humour, the transient population of Bordertown begins to create a new and magical world between the bare walls of the camp.
