Anna flies home from a family holiday to help save her brother Kingsley's marriage. At the airport, Anna is introduced by chance to Skeet. They fall into an instant and helpless attraction. Kingsley's wife, Dolly has just found out he has been having an affair with their live in nanny, Gabriela, and is threatening to leave him and take the children. Meanwhile, Dolly's sister, Kitty, has just become engaged to music producer Skeet and wastes no time in telling everybody she knows. She hastily plans an engagement party, much to the surprise of her parents, Catherine and Phillip.

Anna can't shake what happened with Skeet. He's calling her. And then he texts, What are we going to do? She attempts to focus her affections on her husband, Xander, but finds it difficult. She tries to block Skeet from her mind, but can't. She sneaks out to meet him, she just can't resist him. Kitty is sent away while Dolly takes pleasure in punishing Kingsley; Xander's world comes crashing down when Anna's private affair becomes very public.

Anna lies and tells Xander the affair is over but she continues to sneak away to see Skeet whenever she can. Xander is paranoid so he checks Anna's phone and whereabouts all the time, he hates the man he's turning into. But when he sees Skeet sneaking out of their house, Xander is furious, he demands Anna move out. She goes to Skeet's house for the first time and is completely enchanted. It's magical and she manages to forget for one brief moment that the rest of her life is in pieces. Dolly arranges the worst dinner party ever but it does allow Peter and Kitty to meet again.

Peter and Kitty's wedding preparations have begun, they have decided to have a not-wedding to be held at Dolly's country house and they would like their guests to all wear white. Kingsley invites Anna to the not-wedding so she can see Kasper. Despite Skeet's warnings, Anna makes plans to attend. She thinks the wedding might also provide the opportunity to reaffirm her place in the family. Peter discovers just how sick his brother is. At Peter and Kitty's non-wedding Xander meets Peter's friend, Helen, and they hit it off instantly.

Anna and Skeet have moved to the country. Anna wants to bring Kasper home with her but he refuses to go. She is forced to return without her son. Anna finds herself home alone with the baby more and more as Skeet makes any excuse to be back in the city. Anna is convinced he is having an affair with Theresa and that he doesn't love her anymore. The more clingy Anna becomes, the more distant Skeet is. Their relationship begins to spiral out of control.
