Always Greener—Statement from Tim Worner

Statement from Tim Worner,
Director of Programming and Production, Seven Network

We will not be proceeding with a new series of Always Greener. We did commit to a new season for Always Greener in 2004 but have decided not to proceed with production of the programme. This is not a decision that we have taken lightly and follows a careful analysis of our cost management and programming commitments for 2004.

The cancellation of any Australian programme is to be regretted especially one that dared to be different, such as Always Greener. We're very proud of Always Greener but unfortunately, we sometimes have to make a prudent decision that means the end of an Australian series. We share the disappointment of the cast and crew of Always Greener and thank them for creating and producing a programme of high quality.

We have also taken the decision to walk away from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. We were in negotiations for the Australian television rights to the US version of this programme and the format rights for an Australian version. Given we have the rights to a personal makeover programme, What Not To Wear, which is performing strongly in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and a number of other concepts which we believe offer significant potential, we have taken the view that the cost of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy outweighs the eventual value of this concept in particular its viability as an ongoing, long-term franchise.
