A New World Order

Things are different now, there's a new world order. It's been three months since Evan left for the writer's colony in New York. Alex is working at the Accident & Emergency Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. She loves it—it's high stress and high energy and will stand her in good stead for when she goes back to the surgery program. Evan's finished his writers' stint in New York and is now travelling in Cuba with Gabrielle. Alex missed Evan desperately at first, but now the space is being filled with work at the hospital. Miranda is busy and enjoying living with Will. Meanwhile, Richie has got his dream job in a top rating serial, and the powers-that-be want to push him as the show ' s sexy heartthrob.
With Evan still overseas, Alex decides she needs a more active social life, and enters a whirl of parties and openings. Richie has made his TV soap debut but life is not sweet. Jason and Caitlin are pregnant and glowing.

Free Will

Freedom is standing on the edge being able to choose whether to jump. Will is almost killed by a freak accident on the site, which has a severe effect on his mental state. Alex is puzzled by Rex's timing in the bedroom. Kelly decides to broaden her horizons. Evan returns home from his travels.

The Dance

Life doesn't come in a straight line - it's more of a dance, You gotta know the moves. Evan is back but the household has a strange new dynamic as it includes Nathan and often Rex as well. Gabrielle has an interview at a trade union, and is smitten by the cute—and married—interviewer. Will and Miranda are getting closer than ever, and Richie is furious to discover that they have become lovers. Evan declares war on Alex and Rex's relationship.

An Ill Wind

Sometimes it takes an ill wind for us to tell our secrets, what good does it do once they're out there? Richie decides to tell his father Graeme that he is gay. He takes the news well, but things soon become fraught, leading to arguments and further, more damaging truths. Evan has a new love interest. Caitlain and Jason prepare for the new arrival. Alex is faced with some tough decisions regarding her feelings for Rex.

The Grand Delusion

It seems self delusion is the only sure response to getting through life… Alex and Evan appear to be getting on with their lives until a dinner party highlights how close they still are. Jason and Caitlin find out that coping with a new baby is tougher than they expected. Miranda has trouble with a jealous rival in her new play. Kelly is worried Nathan has the Six Month Itch.

It's Not Easy

How do you cook a delicious dinner, get a job, impress old friends, mend a fight, kiss an old flame, and win fifty bucks? It's not easy… Kelly drags Nathan to a party hosted by some old friends she is keen to impress. Nathan doesn't like being put on display as her trophy boyfriend and they end up fighting. Rex has suspicions about Alex and Evan, while Richie is angry at Will and Miranda's closeness. Caitlin wants to move to Sydney to be with her mother, but Jason tries to dissuade her.

A Fine Line

Love is a balancing act. Most of the time it's walking along a very thin wire. As Evan prepares to launch his novel, Alex's world comes crashing down when Rex splits up with her because he feels she doesn't love him. Richie is unable to commit to Simon. Caitlin and Jason's relationship takes a turn for the worse as they head for the airport, but neither is willing to address the situation.

Make Up Your Mind

Decisions in life are easy when the arguments are one sided. You just go with them. But if it's fifty fifty; if it's a line ball; if it's the high road or the low road - that's when it gets hard to decide. Alex has trouble dealing with her break-up with Rex. Miranda decides to go with Will on his big adventure around the country, and while their imminent departure stirs up deep, conflicting emotions for both Kelly and Richie, a job offer throws a spanner in the works. Gabrielle is having difficulty with Damon at work, Evan takes matters with Rex into his own hands.

Controlling The Universe

Everyone has their own methods of trying to control the universe. But if the universe is in a bad mood, it will slug you out of the blue. Alex is still struggling to deal with Rex's rejection when she's blindsided by some shocking news. Miranda settles into life on her own, but realises independence may just mean loneliness. Gabrielle goes on a work trip with Dominic, determined not to act on her feelings for him.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

When we make a major life decision, we weigh up the good against the bad. But what do we do when the pro's & con's seem to cancel each other out? We're caught between a rock & a hard place. Alex agonises over her pregnancy, then makes a big decision. Miranda is mortified when video of her and Richie having sex has made its way onto the internet. Jason returns home to find Caitlin leaving, and tries to stop her.

The Funny Side

Nobody knows why we laugh, we just do. Richie is tipped to be the star of a new TV soap, but his ego gets out of control. Alex's world has crumbled, as has Jason's. Christian helps them to see the funny side. Gabrielle and her boss Dominic end up in bed after weeks of sexual tension. Richie's self-belief is shattered when audience testing reveals his appeal is a bit holey.

Who Do You Want To Be Today?

We want to be ourselves, be who others want us to be, and be someone people want to love. No wonder it's a disaster one minute and bliss the next. Since his book was published, Evan has become a minor literary figure and acts like an artiste. Gab has to admit that she no longer holds the moral high ground when it comes to extra-marital affairs. A pretty journalist, Jemima, dismisses Evan as a wanker. Evan's smitten by her disdain. Alex and Gab clash when the present collides with the past.

From Little Things Big Things Grow

Why is it that, when all's well with the world, and everything's in it's rightful place, we feel compelled to mess it all up? Richie panics that he is going to be axed from the show when he receives some script re-writes. Evan is besotted with Jemima but worries she is hung up on Alex. Gab feels the full humiliation of being the other woman after meeting Dominic's wife Francesca. Nathan's faith is becoming an issue. Jason crosses the line with a female colleague and lives to regret it.

Rose Coloured Glasses

Life's great when you are only seeing what you want to see. But how long can you avoid those rose-coloured glasses coming off, and when they do, what do you see? Kelly finally meets Nathan's parents, but he tries to pass her off as a friend. Gabrielle experiences the agony and the ecstasy of being the "other woman".

Have A Little Faith

Growing up is about trying yourself out in the world, seeing how everything feels, feeling how everything seems. But in the end you have to be true to yourself. Kelly struggles to work out how what you believe impacts on how you behave. Dominic turns up distraught at Gab's place, having left Francesca. However her happiness doesn't last long as events take an unexpected turn

The Great Divide

No matter how compatible you are with the person you love, you're always different. You can ignore these differences or embrace them, but either way you have to recognise them. It's called the Great Divide. Competitive tension creeps into Evan and Jemima's relationship. He tries to break up with her by sleeping with somebody else, but when he confesses, he's bemused by her reaction. But Jemima has the last laugh and they're soon breaking up for real.
Good intentions aren't enough to keep Gabrielle and Dominic together. Gab's feeling a poor second to his family and after days of relentless squabbling she asks him to move. But, he takes her at her word, and she's devastated.
Kelly has coffee with Nathan's Mum and her Nana pays a visit to Nathan. When both women point out the huge gulf between Kelly and Nathan, it actually brings them closer together.
Jason's enjoying hanging out with Angus. He takes his son to the Fu Bar one night where Evan and Christian use him as a "chick magnet".
Christian teaches Alex about the plants on the roof and then he tells her she's beautiful. They go back to his place, and in the morning Alex hides from Miranda. It's their delicious little secret.
Miranda's still searching for the right play to perform. After reading many scripts she finds one that moves her to tears and prompts her to reveal a secret from her past.

Sweet Revenge

Revenge. It can manifest itself in so many forms. Evan is furious when Jemima heckles him during a speech and then sprays vinegar all over his room, but her revenge backfires. Miranda is excited about playing Panther Girl no 2, but finds all is not as she first thought. Gabrielle allows her anger with Dominic to compromise an important legal case. Alex decides to date different kinds of men and ends up with more than she bargained for.

Signs Of Life

When we're in trouble we place our trust in signs to guide us out of trouble. Miranda has a bad case of first night nerves. Evan is searching for inspiration wherever he can find it as he desperately tries to end his writer's block but his methods don't please Alex. Gabrielle begins to question everything in her life. Kelly wants to believe there's a future for her and Nathan, but he has other ideas.

The Searchers

We're all searching for something, but how do we know when we find it? Evan gets a shock when everyone he's ever slept with suddenly turns up at his door. He believes it may be a portent and, following this flash of inspiration back to its source, he is blown away by what he discovers.

Walpurgisnacht

Some parties are dull. Some are wild. Some change your life. A big party changes everyone's lives. A party at Simon's house throws up many surprises and changes everyone's lives.

Do The Right Thing

Dealing with the aftermath of the party proves difficult. Evan wants an apology from Alex for hitting him but she stubbornly refuses to give him that satisfaction. Gabrielle has forgotten Jason's confession of love from the night before. Alex ponders whether or not to tell Kelly about what she saw at the party. Richie and Will's friendship is put to the test by Will's honesty.

Truth Is Beautiful, Without Doubt; So Are Lies

What is it about lies? Evan wonders if he may have missed his moment when Rex arrives back into Alex's life. A financial crisis threatens to ground Miranda's plans to take her show overseas until an investor steps forward. Upon learning from Caitlin that she's engaged to be married, Jason asks to have a formal parenting agreement drawn up so he doesn't lose contact with Angus. Meanwhile, Christian faces health concerns and Kelly looks to reinvent herself
